CORPORATE ACCOUNT FUNDING

Indonesia Corporate Bank Account Minimum Deposits: Opening Balance vs Ongoing Balance

Separate the amount needed to open an account from the cash needed to keep it usable.

Indonesian corporate bank minimum deposits are product conditions, not one national incorporation charge. Checked on November 3, 2026, the published IDR giro examples below show IDR 1,000,000 for both opening and minimum balance at BCA, Mandiri and BNI’s non-individual product. Currency and account type matter: BCA’s USD opening amount is USD 1,000, while its published ongoing minimum is USD 500.

An opening deposit becomes money in the account under its terms. It is different from a bank fee, the company’s paid-up capital obligations and the operating cash needed for upcoming payments. Confirm the exact corporate product and current conditions with the chosen bank before funding.

Key takeaways

  • Compare the corporate product and currency; a personal account page may publish a different threshold.
  • Read how an ongoing minimum is measured, including whether an average balance or another basis applies.
  • Do not count an opening deposit and the same money again as two separate funding costs.
  • Keep enough cleared cash for authorised payments, bank deductions and a management buffer after account acceptance.

Distinguish four amounts that answer different questions

An opening deposit is the amount required when establishing the product relationship. An ongoing minimum is a balance condition after opening. Fees are amounts charged for services or other specified events. Company capital is a corporate funding concept supported by its own legal and accounting records. One incoming transfer may provide cash, but its legal purpose still needs to be identified.

Amount Question it answers What it does not establish
Opening deposit How much must initially enter this product? That the company satisfies its capital obligations or every KYC condition.
Ongoing minimum What balance condition applies after opening? That all funds below or above it are contractually blocked.
Bank fee What amount is charged and on what cycle or event? The amount of operating cash the business will need.
Operating buffer How much liquidity should management preserve? A statutory or universal bank minimum.

A bank deposit is not automatically an expense. Record the source and purpose of the money, then separately post actual charges under the applicable accounting treatment. If a shareholder provides the opening funds, retain the evidence showing whether the transfer is capital, a loan or another supported category.

The entity documents supporting Indonesia company formation identify the company that will apply and hold the funds. Match the legal account holder and its authorised representatives to those records. An incorporated company still needs the selected bank’s acceptance; sending money alone does not establish that acceptance.

Identify the corporate account product

Confirm the applicant, currency and account type before comparing minimum amounts.

Compare current published corporate giro examples

The amounts below were checked on November 3, 2026. They are product examples, not a ranking or a guarantee that a particular PT PMA application will be accepted. No foreign-currency conversion is used, so the amounts remain in their original product currencies.

Product and bank source Currency Opening deposit Published ongoing minimum
BCA Giro IDR IDR 1,000,000 IDR 1,000,000
BCA Giro USD USD 1,000 USD 500
Mandiri Giro IDR IDR 1,000,000 IDR 1,000,000
Mandiri Giro USD USD 500 USD 500
BNI Giro Non Perorangan product summary IDR IDR 1,000,000 IDR 1,000,000
BNI Giro Non Perorangan USD USD 500 USD 500

BNI’s non-individual summary identifies its below-minimum additional administration charge by reference to the monthly average balance. Mandiri’s product page lists an IDR 25,000 monthly administration charge for non-government individual and other entity customers and an IDR 25,000 monthly below-minimum penalty. Read the chosen account’s measurement method and current charge conditions rather than treating every bank’s threshold as identical in operation.

BCA’s page states that there is no held balance for its Giro product. That is a useful reminder that a minimum condition and blocked cash are different concepts. Ask whether the minimum is a charging threshold, a hold or another product condition before deciding how much is available for payments.

Retain the current product summary or tariff page and the bank’s application-specific confirmation. A relationship arrangement, additional cash-management service or different currency may have conditions beyond this narrow comparison. Where an adviser quotes a larger deposit, ask which exact product term or agreed relationship condition supports it.

Opening threshold and ongoing cash need are separate comparisons Compare the opening requirement with payments plus deductions plus a management buffer; fund the larger supported amount without counting the same deposit twice. Opening requirement Product condition Operating cash need Payments + fees + buffer Fund the larger supported amount Monitor the bank metric and cash plan
Use the actual product terms and cleared-cash timetable; deposits are not added twice.

Calculate a payment buffer without double counting the deposit

Use this planning relationship: required cleared funding is the greater of the opening requirement and the cash needed for payments, expected deductions and the chosen residual buffer. This is a management model, not a bank rule. It assumes no overdraft, no separate hold and no reliance on receipts that have not cleared.

For an illustrative IDR account, assume authorised payments of IDR 2,400,000 before the next receipt, a management buffer of IDR 1,000,000 and an expected IDR 25,000 monthly administration debit. The required funding is IDR 3,425,000: payments plus buffer plus debit. An opening minimum of IDR 1,000,000 is already met within that amount; it is not added again.

Planning input Illustrative amount Treatment
Payments before the next cleared receipt IDR 2,400,000 Include the actual authorised outflow.
Management residual buffer IDR 1,000,000 Keep separate from the bank’s own measurement method.
Expected account deduction IDR 25,000 Replace with the applicable current charge.
Required cleared funding IDR 3,425,000 Maximum of opening requirement and the three-input cash need.

Only the cited bank product figures are published terms. The payment and buffer inputs in this example are invented solely to demonstrate arithmetic. They are not a recommended budget for an Indonesian company, and the model does not establish a paid-up capital requirement or predict a bank’s charges for a different product.

Expected customer receipts are not cleared cash. If a receipt may arrive late, rerun the model using the payments falling before it actually clears. Add any identified hold or separate service requirement only where it applies. The finance team should be able to explain every amount in the funding instruction and avoid an unexplained round-number transfer.

Review the opening cash instruction

Separate the deposit condition, upcoming payments, charges and liquidity buffer.

Check acceptance, source of funds and payment access separately

Before transferring the intended opening money, confirm the beneficiary account details through the bank’s accepted channel and identify any outstanding onboarding condition. Prepare the payer identity, purpose and supporting evidence. Never substitute a provider’s personal or unrelated account for the company’s own account merely because it is described as a temporary deposit destination.

The corporate bank verification and activation checks remain relevant even where the published minimum is modest. The bank needs a coherent applicant file, and the company needs to know which services have actually been activated. An account number, incoming-payment capability and outbound-payment authority are different operational facts.

  1. Confirm the exact product, currency, legal account holder and current deposit conditions.
  2. Identify the source and corporate or contractual purpose of the proposed funds.
  3. Confirm that the bank has provided usable funding instructions and any remaining conditions.
  4. Test the company’s authorised payment arrangement through the bank’s permitted process.
  5. Assign someone to monitor deductions, balances and rejected payments.

If the account is for a secondary currency, model its own cash needs. A healthy IDR balance does not establish that a USD payment can be released without conversion or funding. Identify conversion timing and charges separately rather than translating a USD minimum into a permanent IDR amount using an undated exchange rate.

Keep bank statements and the underlying funding record together. Reconcile the opening entry, subsequent charges and the actual available balance. If an unexplained deduction takes the account below the intended buffer, identify the charge and correct the forecast; simply repeating the original opening amount will not repair the planning error.

Fund the selected account against its terms and the payment calendar

Choose a product that supports the actual currencies and payment controls, then confirm the published terms and any application-specific conditions. Transfer enough cleared cash for the opening requirement and the documented near-term cash need, with each funding category identified in the company records.

After opening, monitor the bank’s balance metric and the company’s own liquidity buffer separately. The amount needed to open the account is not the amount needed to operate the business. Review the funding plan when payroll, suppliers, currencies or bank-service conditions change.

Prepare the account funding handover

Reconcile bank instructions, source of funds and authorised payment access.

Frequently asked questions

Is the minimum deposit a government registration fee?

No. It is a condition of the selected bank product. Actual service charges and company funding obligations are separate categories.

Can I use a personal giro minimum for a company?

Use the bank’s applicable corporate or non-individual product information. Personal-product eligibility and amounts may differ.

Does falling below a minimum always block payments?

Do not assume that result. Read whether the product applies a charge, a hold or another condition, and distinguish that from insufficient available funds.

Should USD and IDR minima be converted into one fixed budget number?

Retain each product’s currency and plan any actual conversion separately using a dated rate and the applicable charges.
